How do you locate your main water line?

The main water line will be near the water meter and is typically found in your basement,
crawl space, or near the foundation where the water service line enters your home. It is often accompanied by a shut-off valve.

  • Key points to note:
The main water line is usually near the water meter, typically found near the front of your property, often under a metal cover in the ground.
  • If the main water line isn’t near the water meter, check your basement, crawl space, or where the water service line enters your house.
  • Look for a visible pipe with a shut-off valve near the water meter.

Contact your local utility company for assistance if you  cannot locate the main water line.

Your pressure-reducing or shutoff valve may be marked with the pipe size. You can also measure the circumference of the pipe using tailor’s tape or a string.

Key points to note:

  • Look for markings: Many plastic pipes will have the size printed directly on the
    side.
  • Measure with a string: Wrap a string around the pipe, measure the string length,
then divide by pi (3.14) to get the diameter.
  • Check valves: The size of a valve connected to the pipe often indicates the pipe size.
  • Conversion chart: Once you have the pipe’s diameter, use a conversion chart to find the nominal pipe size.

Leak Gopher not only detects leaks, but it stops leaks in their tracks with the Leak Gopher Electronic Shut Off Valve!

The Leak Gopher Electronic Shut Off Valve is installed on the water supply line of your home or business by your plumber of choice. Most homes have a ¾” or 1” water line feeding into the home.

Upon being alerted of a leak by the Water Sensors or Meter Reader , the Leak Gopher Electronic Shut Off Valve jumps into action and immediately turns off the water – stopping leaks and damage in their tracks.

Leak Gopher Water Sensors are placed throughout your home for optimal leak detection. Once a sensor detects a physical water leak, it automatically transmits a signal to immediately turn off the water. Leak Gopher then sends you notification via email or text.
